join our gardening club journey
Back in April 2018 a small group of enthusiastic gardeners led by Father Wilson, planted the seeds of what would become our beloved club. Since then, we've been growing together, transforming our church gardens, and welcoming anyone who wants to dig in with us.

Project 1: Restoring Our Lady’s Garden
What was once hidden behind an overgrown hedge has been opened up, revealing the statue of Our Lady in all her beauty. With the hedge gone, the statue carefully repainted, and the beds filled with fresh plants, the space has become a place of light, colour and welcome for everyone who passes by.

Project 2: The Rose Border Revival
The roses by the bus stop had been left to grow wild for too long, becoming tangled and tired. Thanks to patient pruning and care, the border is now on its way back to life — a bright, floral greeting at the entrance to our church that reminds us how a little effort can make a big difference.

Project 3: Walled Garden to Kitchen Garden
The large back garden of the presbytery had been unused for years, overgrown and forgotten. Now, after hard work and generous help, it has been transformed into a thriving kitchen garden. Potatoes, cabbages, beans and more are growing in neat rows, producing food for the parish and joy for those who tend it.

Growing Together
The kitchen garden is thriving, and its harvest is now shared right at the church entrance. Parishioners can take home fresh, homegrown vegetables, and every season adds new life to the plot. What began as an overgrown corner has become a living project that feeds both the parish and the spirit of community.

Our gardening club is open to everyone — whether you’re an experienced hand with a trowel or have never planted a seed before. What matters most is the joy of working side by side, sharing a laugh, and seeing our parish gardens grow. There’s always a place for another pair of hands, and always something new to learn. Come along, join in, and help us keep St Stephen’s blooming.
