Jeremiah reveals to us the displeasure of The Lord who condemns the poor shepherds who have failed the flock. He foretells of new revelations and new and virtuous leaderships.
A reading from the letter of St Paul to the Ephesians:
Christ Jesus is to Herald a new era of peace for those who are close and those who are far away.
A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Mark:
Jesus recognises the needs of His followers who are lost and in need of a new shepherd.
CONGRATULATIONS: To Mr & Mrs Madden who were married here at St Stephen’s this Saturday. We pray that the good Lord will bless your marriage.

SCHOOL CHILDREN: The school children of St Stephen’s have had lots of events during the last two weeks. The school has bade farewell to year 6 leavers. They have also celebrated and sent forth Mrs Frimston who served St Stephen’s for 48 years. May God bless Mrs Frimston and grant her a happy retirement. We also wish all the children a happy and safe holiday. We wish the year 6 leavers Success in their New Schools.
DIOCESAN PILGRIMAGES FOR 2025 YEAR OF JUBILEE:
We are delighted to announce a number of pilgrimage opportunities in celebration of the 2025 Pilgrims of Hope Jubilee. Once again, we are pleased to be returning to both Lourdes and Walsingham, as well as offering pilgrimages to Rome, Lindisfarne, and a wealth of local pilgrimages across our own diocese. Bookings for the Rome pilgrimage will open on Monday 5th August, but please note that places will be limited. Bookings for other pilgrimages will open soon. DROYLSDEN FOOD BANK: We have received an urgent request to help out. The Food Bank is completely out of the following items: Tinned products such as – Potatoes, Sweetcorn, Tomatoes, Red kidney and Cannellini Beans, Carrots, Soups, packet/mashed potato, packet Soups, cartons of Juice and Biscuits. Also, Toothpaste. Thank you all so much for your support, Stella.
MARY CAULFIELD R.I.P: Mary, passed away on the 4th July at Tameside Hospital after a long stay there. Her funeral will be at St Willibrord’s, Clayton on the 14th August at 12.00pm. She will be buried at Droylsden Cemetery at 1.15pm. The wake afterwards will be at Lord Sheldon Arms.

Loving Father, be with us as we seek new ways of being your people in our Diocese.
May each new day bring us closer to your son Jesus, as we follow his teaching and become disciples of love. As we continue our Synodal journey, draw us closer to each other. May the truth of your Spirit enlighten us. Open our hearts, as we listen to each other and reach out in love to your people.
